Uplifting yet sad
exciting yet drab
one parent missing
other reminiscing
the good with the bad.
Sharing precious time
cherishing every line
of conversation exchanged
feeling estranged
with distance a fine.
Ups and downs
brought their frowns
a New Year leap
forward to keep
wearing my optimistic crown.
I must confess
I can now rest
with souls beaming
love is streaming
and I’m infinitely blessed.

caresses skin
toys with leaves
in spiraling swirls
whispering to trees
and swaying palms,
I long to feel
its salubrious touch.

seduces senses

a significant compass,
my mother’s birth
continues to surpass
all earthly memories
and old celebrations,
her heavenly love
bridging our separation.

I see you with unseeing eyes
I feel you with unfeeling hands
I speak to you with unspoken words
I love you and hope you understand.
My heart is full of love
My mind is askance
My memory is mostly lost
My body still wants to dance.
