Fires devour
leaving in their path
trails of bones
to ashes an aftermath
of eucalyptus mourning
united they stand
a charred forest of silence
across ancient land.

In echoes of thunder
the roaring flames
leave scars of devastation
and acres of pain
blasé attitudes
to climate change
and disrespect to indigenous
back burning ways
is abruptly felt
in apocalyptic waves
of sufferance
and charred silence
of all the unsaved.
