My 17 year old nephew Kieren Devisser is cycling from ULURU to MELBOURNE to raise funds for Cancer Research. He begins his epic journey at Uluru on Monday 18th August 2014 and arrives 26 days later at Yarra Junction on Friday 12th September 2014.
This is no easy bike ride which will certainly push his limits and Kieren has been training very hard. I sincerely wish him all the best with this extraordinary mature venture for such an inspiring young man.
Please check out Kieren Devisser’s Cycle For Cancer on Facebook, his video on YouTube, and support him with a DONATION.
His dedication to this cause inspired me to write a poem:
My caring nephew is
about to embark,
on the ride of his life
which will soon start.
His desire to endure
endless hours on tar,
to raise funds for a cure
of a disease reaching far.
An indiscriminate illness
too well spread,
leads to a road
of much suffering ahead.
My nephew’s sacrifice
is a small token to pay
and his discomfort no doubt
will pave the way,
to highlight the need for
more research to the cause
of cancer is most worthy
and deserves our applause.
Please support this
special young man,
who is doing a lot more
than many ever can.
